Ona Corporation is a business group specialised in the hotel sector. It is made up of several business units, one of which is the management and commercialisation of hotels and holiday complexes. With more than 15 years’ activity in the sector, the company has vast experience in strategic hotel development. During this period, we have focused on improving the results of the project which we have been incorporating into our groups, by combining commercial values, online and offline marketing strategies, cost optimisation and improving reputations through a management strategy focused on the customer. All these actions have one common goal: to achieve excellence and to satisfy the needs of our customers.

Ona Corporation - Historia

  • Birth of the group


    The company was founded in 1996 by Carlos Barrau Ribera, the current CEO, together with its parent company, CLUBOTEL LA DORADA S.L. It all started with the purchase of a small complex in Salou, with 20 apartments.

  • The first steps: Gruphotel


    During this decade, the group saw progressive growth, adding hotels in Torrevieja, La Manga del Mar Menor, Andorra and Salou to its portfolio. Due to the success and growth of its business model, the strategic location was changed and the central office moved to Barcelona. The company is re-named Gruphotel.

  • Consolidation of growth


    From 2000 to 2010, the group consolidates itself and improves its presence in the main tourist destinations of the Spanish Mediterranean coast, with new holiday complexes: Ona Jardines Paraisol, in Salou; Ona Cala Pi Club and Ona Aucanada, in Majorca; and Ona Ogisaka Garden in Dénia, among others.

  • Alanda and re-structuring of the group in


    The Premium concept is introduced within the group, with a new high-level complex, and a new destination: Marbella. Alanda Club Marbella becomes a part of the group, with its own brand which stands for quality, comfort, elegance, and first-class services.

    At the same time, the group is re-organised and re-structured, modern brands are created and the hotel management aspect - Onahotels - is separated from the time-sharing aspect - Onagrup Vacations.

    This period is characterised by the best growth of the group and by the nomination of Germán Castro as MANAGING DIRECTOR.

  • Diversification of the group


    Apart from the growth and the success of the hotel exploitation model, the experience and professionalism of holiday complex management becomes a major factor. Based on this, a new growth strategy is designed and new business opportunities are found: Onafood (gastronomy management), Onaproject (real estate investment) and GamyGame (gamification platform).

  • Welcome Barcelona


    Ona Corporation establishes a new growth strategy for the commercialisation of hotels through management. In doing so, it enters the market at one of the world's top destinations: Barcelona.

    OnaCondotel is founded, a new brand dedicated to the management and commercial exploitation of condo hotel-type properties.

  • New destination: Canary Islands


    Ona Corporation integrates the Wimpen chain and lands on the Canary Islands, with 6 holiday complexes in Lanzarote and Tenerife.
